Bob O’Hara leads Primera’s substation team with a passion for cultivating long-term client relationships. “Relationships are critical. They allow us to understand our client’s processes and needs,” he explains. “It’s more than just the work product. It’s about delivering the best technical product we can combined with service tailored specifically for the individuals with whom we are working.” With more than 20 years of experience engineering and managing substation and transmission projects, he’s proud of the relationships he’s built. Bob’s expertise includes substation design, grounding system analysis, system impact studies, collector system design, HVDC design, EMF studies, induction coordination, project development, utility economics and project management.
Bob studied electrical engineering at Marquette University before beginning his career with a global leader in the power industry. Two years later, he returned to school and earned his MBA from the University of Notre Dame. Upon graduating, he rejoined his original firm in an entry-level role. He spent more than 20 years with that company, working with utilities across the US and Canada including Exelon, Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison, Ameren, Louisville Gas & Electric, Enmax, and NV Energy, among others. As time progressed, his commitment to quality work and client service was regularly recognized with new roles and additional responsibilities, eventually landing him in a position as senior manager and member of leadership team. His expertise and passion for client service were a natural fit for Primera where he continues to build strong relationships with clients and remains focused on growing our talented substation team.
Outside the office, Bob’s focus turns to sport. He enjoys golfing and running in addition to watching his three boys play ice hockey.
