Dawn Cosentino is Primera’s leading water resources expert committed to providing our clients with innovative and cost effective solutions to drainage, regulatory and environmental management issues. She works closely with Primera’s roadway design team to ensure our projects meet relevant stormwater and floodplain regulations. Dawn’s expertise is the result of more than 20 years of water resources engineering experience focusing on floodplain and stormwater management in the private and government sectors. Her specialties include hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, design and environmental permitting, project management, agency coordination, and team collaboration.
Dawn studied civil engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago before moving to the Pocono Mountains to spend the early years of her career honing her hydrology and hydraulics skills working for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. She spent six years there working closely with other state and federal regulatory agencies to reduce flooding concerns and protect wetlands before ultimately heading back to Illinois to be closer to family. Before joining Primera, she spent nearly a decade working for two mid-size engineering and consulting firms providing water resources support on a wide variety of transportation, aviation, and wastewater projects. Her strong background has positioned her to provide our clients with best-in-class services.
When she’s not at the office, Dawn loves to spend time with her family. “With two teenage boys, my youngest sister and our dog in the house, my family keeps me very busy,” she explains. “I come from a big family and enjoy all the happy chaos that comes along with it.” She also enjoys traveling, cooking, gardening and volunteering in Special Olympics activities with her sister.
