Primera Engineers is proud to announce that one of our projects recently won the Engineering News-Record Midwest’s (ENR Midwest) Best Project Award for 2019. Our NorthShore University HealthSystem Medical Office Building (MOB) project located in Round Lake Beach, Illinois was selected as the winner in the Small Project (under $10 million) category. ENR Midwest’s Best Projects Awards is dedicated to honoring the best construction projects and the companies that designed and built them. This year’s pool of nominees brought in nearly 100 exceptional projects located in the Midwest region across 20 specialized categories. The projects were judged by an independent jury using five criteria, including safety, innovation and teamwork and were carefully curated down to a small 35 winning projects.

The MOB consisted of a 64,000-square-foot, prairie-style building housing three practices with a central waiting area, reception, exam rooms, ultrasound, radiology, offices, physician and nursing spaces, break rooms, and staff areas on the ground floor. Primera provided mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection design services as well as commissioning services in coordination with the architectural, structural, and electrical consultants as part of an Integrated Form of Agreement (IFOA). The IFOA was signed by five parties: the Owner, A/E firms, and General Contractor, and included six trade partner subcontractors that all put their profit into a pool to guarantee the success of this project. The agreement was also the first IFOA contract to be executed for a healthcare project in the Chicagoland area.
