The BBVA Bancomer Centro Operativo (Operations Center) is in the Parques Polanco complex in Mexico City on a site stretching 13,400m2. The building is 137 meters high with 32 floors and will house some 4,500 people. Primera was selected as the LEED Consultant and Commissioning Agent and was an integral member of the selection committee that reviewed the proposals of six international architectural firms that participated in the design competition.
A multi-disciplinary team from the BBVA Group, together with Primera and other internationally recognized specialists, spent months assessing 77 factors including: technical, design, timing and cost, and chose a design that could physically depict the values inherent to BBVA’s corporate culture. These values include:
- Building efficiency
- Sustainable development
- Application of emerging trends in technology
- Buildings with low maintenance costs
- Development of the city
- And, above all, a firm commitment to the quality of life of its employees
The design incorporates cutting edge technology including harvesting energy from regenerative braking. The engineering solutions used for optimizing energy consumption minimize environmental impact and will contribute to obtaining LEED Silver certification for the building.
