Primera is pleased to announce our Aviation Group Manager, Joseph Avram, PE, LEED AP BD+C, has been selected as a 2020 Rising Star in the AEC Industry by Civil + Structural Engineer, a Zweig Group publication. The Rising Star award recognizes young professionals with a record of exceptional ability and professional accomplishments related to management, leadership, teaching, research, and public service. Recipients of this prestigious award are considered the future role models and leaders who will shape the profession and lead to a more innovative and sustainable AEC industry. As the lead for our Aviation Group, Joe truly embodies the definition of a young role model and is an advocate and ambassador for the civil engineering profession.
Before the age of 26, Joe had earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Bradley University, a Master’s in Business Administration from Northern Illinois University, and a Master of Science degree in civil engineering from Purdue University. He began his career working on site civil design projects ranging from K-12 to federal to civic and cultural institutions. However, his interests shifted to the aviation field and for the last nine years has focused on airline and airport projects. His extensive experience in aviation continues to help him solve challenges at two of the busiest airports in the country – Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and Dallas/Fort Worth International. Joe is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois, New York, Tennessee, Texas, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Colorado, and is a LEED accredited professional in building design and construction. He is also a proud recipient of the 2019 Young Civil Engineer of the Year Award by the American Society of Civil Engineers Illinois Section (ASCE-IL).
