Primera Project Recognized with BD+C Reconstruction Award

Primera Engineers is proud to announce that one of our projects recently won a Building Design+Construction (BD+C) Reconstruction Award. Our LEED Gold Old Chicago Post Office project located in downtown Chicago earned the highest honors, Platinum, in the annual awards program.

The 2.6 million square foot, $900M building renovation project turned the nearly century-old postal facility into a new hub for business and commerce. Primera worked with the developer – 601W Companies, the architect – Gensler, ComEd and the City of Chicago on this massive retrofit project and provided electrical distribution and code consulting services. Two 12kV riser systems with a total of nine mechanical vaults were needed to meet the distribution needs. In additional to detailed drawings, Primera attended weekly coordination meetings with key stakeholders to assist in any issues that arose. Primera’s team also provided building code review services for architectural design, heating/ventilation, refrigeration, plumbing, life safety and electrical disciplines.
