Engineering News-Record (ENR) Mountain States & Southwest recently announced the winners of its 2025 Best Projects competition, recognizing outstanding design and construction achievements across Colorado, Wyoming, and the Intermountain region, which includes Idaho, Montana, and Utah. We’re proud to share that two Primera projects were honored at yesterday’s Best Projects Awards Breakfast in Denver: the Denver International Airport United Airlines Concourse B Gates of the Future and the Montbello High School renovation.
The annual awards program, now in its 26th year, continues to highlight the most impactful and innovative projects in the built environment throughout the Mountain States. Each year, a panel of experienced industry professionals reviews submissions across a wide range of categories, assessing projects for their complexity, sustainability, safety, and overall contribution to their communities. The competition remains a benchmark for excellence in regional architecture, engineering, and construction.
In the Colorado/Wyoming region, the Best Project in the Airport/Transit category was awarded to our Denver International Airport (DEN) United Airlines Concourse B Gates of the Future project. Primera served as the electrical engineering subconsultant to HNTB for the Denver International Airport expansion, supporting key infrastructure upgrades across Concourse A and B. Our role included power and lighting design for the new baggage handling systems and passenger areas, helping DEN advance toward its goal of accommodating 100 million annual passengers.
Additionally, in the K-12 Education category, our Montbello High School renovation in Denver received the Best Project honor. Our Denver-based team led the electrical engineering and construction administration efforts for the new 277,694-square-foot high school. Our project work supported the development of advanced learning environments, including modern classrooms, collaborative spaces, and upgraded athletic facilities tailored to meet the needs of today’s students and future generations.
Congratulations to all of this year’s ENR Mountain States Best Projects winners! These achievements reflect the dedication, innovation, and collaboration that continue to shape the future of the built environment across the region. For the full list of winners, click here.
