Congratulations to our Aviation Senior Civil Engineer, John Antonoglu, PE, LEED AP BD+C, CFM on receiving his Envision Certification from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI). The Envision rating system is a flexible system of criteria and performance objectives to aid decision makers and help project teams identify sustainable approaches during planning, design and construction of infrastructure projects that will continue throughout the project’s operations and maintenance and end-of-life phases.1 As an Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP), John will be able to measure the sustainability of all-encompassing transportation infrastructure projects across 64 criteria, ensuring optimal sustainability performance.
John has been passionate about sustainability in the AEC industry for over 25 years. As a licensed professional engineer, LEED accredited professional, and certified flood plain manager, John has managed countless sustainable design, storm water management, water and wastewater treatment, and environmental engineering projects. Most notably, however, John spent 17 years working on the $8.2B O’Hare Modernization Program that reconfigured the airport’s outdated runways into a more modern, parallel configuration where he was involved with nearly every aspect of the design process. He was a key member of the team that developed O’Hare’s Sustainable Airport Manual which served as a model for sustainability at airports across the Country.
