Primera is pleased to announce that two of our projects were honored with American Council for Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC-IL) Engineering Excellence Awards. Our Chicago North Facility project received the highest-level Honor Award, and our Transportation, Distribution and Logistics Center project received a Merit Award this year – both tremendous achievements. The Engineering Excellence Awards received over 40 nominations this year, with only 11 being selected for the Honor Award. Primera would like to congratulate all the project teams who received awards, including our partners and sub-consultants. All projects and teams will be recognized for their efforts at the 2021 Engineering Excellence Awards Ceremony on April 8, 2021. Below is a quick summary of our two winning projects:
Our Chicago North Facility project includes a multi-phase, 30-acre redevelopment of an office headquarters building for a major local utility. As the design team lead, Primera managed all of the subconsultants on this project and worked directly with the owner and its designated project manager to create a cutting-edge headquarters environment that continues to ensure safe and reliable power delivery to over one million customers. Primera also provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, civil, LEED consulting, energy modeling, and lighting design services for this project. Primera’s Project Manager was featured by Storm Water Solutions in May 2019 talking about the utility’s sustainability goals.
Our second project, the Olive-Harvey College Transportation, Distribution and Logistics Center, included the design and construction of a new 7-acre site with 3-acre commercial driver’s license training lot. As a member of the design team, Primera successfully provided site civil services for this project from conceptual design through construction administration and closeout. Our primary scope of work included innovative and sustainable stormwater management solutions. Primera’s design was featured by Storm Water Solutions in July.
Each year, the ACEC-IL Engineering Excellence Awards competition recognizes projects of engineering achievement by Illinois consulting engineering firms. ACEC-IL is the only statewide association dedicated solely to the interests of consulting engineering firms. Entries are judged on the basis of engineering excellence, the degree to which the client’s needs are met, and the benefits to the public welfare and private practice of engineering.
