Primera is happy to share that not one but two of our projects were recognized at this year’s IREJ Awards! The Illinois Real Estate Journal (IREJ) announced that both the Pepper Family Wildlife Center at Lincoln Park Zoo and the Sable Hotel at Navy Pier were named winners! More than 600 commercial real estate professionals from across Chicagoland attended the 3rd Annual IREJ Commercial Real Estate Awards  event to celebrate and highlight projects throughout many sectors of the commercial real estate industry. Primera is honored to have contributed to these recognized projects.

The Pepper Family Wildlife Center at Lincoln Park Zoo received the IREJ Award under the Redevelopment category. Primera provided mechanical and electrical engineering services to redesign and expand the Lion House at Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo. The renovations connected the inside and outside environments and created larger habitats for the lions. Primera developed MEP system concepts, plumbing design and lighting fixtures and made suggestions for approval and pricing. Because of the building’s historic landmark status, Primera worked tirelessly to overcome restrictions and fix existing accessibility issues throughout the building.

The Sable Hotel was named the IREJ award winner in the Hotel/Hospitality sector. Primera provided commissioning services for mechanical and lighting control systems, along with the domestic hot water system. With beautiful views of Lake Michigan and the iconic Chicago skyline, the Sable Hotel is the 100^th property in the Curio Collection by Hilton and the first hotel to be located on Chicago’s iconic Navy Pier. The hotel features 223 guest rooms and over 4,300 square feet of meeting and event space, along with a Rooftop Venue and restaurant.
