On Sunday, October 1st, the Primera Foundation hosted its 3rd Annual fundraising event, STEMFEST, at Brookfield Zoo. Over 150 guests gathered in the Zoo’s private event space, The Pavilions, to enjoy a fun-filled day of games, raffles, crafts, and activities. It was a beautiful sunny day as families enjoyed a delicious picnic buffet before exploring the 235-acre grounds, featuring 3,481 animals belonging to 511 species!
The Primera Foundation, founded in 2019 as a non-profit organization, promotes STEM careers through scholarship, technology, education, and mentorship. The Foundation provides opportunities for all students to explore STEM-related concepts and careers in hopes of growing their passion for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. Since its inception, the organization has raised over $170,000 to support and inspire the next generation of engineers and architects.
“I am amazed and humbled by the generous support of our sponsors and guests year after year,” explains Erin Inman, President & CEO of Primera Engineers, and President of the Foundation. “Since 2019, we’ve been able to positively impact several students through our partnerships with organizations like the Chicago Engineers’ Foundation and Chicago State University, thanks in large part to the success and support of this event,” she continues.
