Primera is proud to announce that two of our projects, the Sheffield Senior and Residences (pictured above) and our Capital Improvement Program, have been recognized by the American Council for Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC-IL) as part of their Engineering Excellence Awards Program. Our Sheffield Senior and Residences project earned a Special Achievement Award, while our Capital Improvement Program earned the Merit Award, both projects recognized for their impressive engineering design and larger community impacts. ACEC-IL will be honoring all award recipients at the 2026 Annual Engineering Excellence Awards Gala in February.
The Engineering Excellence Awards is an annual program that celebrates outstanding achievements by Illinois consulting engineering firms. Projects are evaluated for their engineering innovation, how well they meet client needs, and their positive impact on both the public and the engineering profession. Primera is honored to have contributed to the recognized projects highlighted below.
The Sheffield Senior and Residences are a multi-phased, mixed-income housing development in the Lincoln Park neighborhood owned by the Chicago Housing Authority. The project included renovations to existing senior apartments, creating new connections between buildings and the addition of modern amenities and accessible units for residents. Primera provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting controls and fire protection engineering design services for the project.
Primera Cotter Water Partners (PCWP), a joint venture between Primera Engineers and Cotter Consulting, leads construction management for the Chicago Department of Water Management’s Capital Improvement Program (Target Market). The ongoing program is focused on upgrading water and sewer infrastructure throughout the City of Chicago, replacing outdated lead pipes and improving water services for residents and businesses. In years one and two of the program, approximately 10,000 lead service water lines were replaced thanks to PCWP and the program team.
