Primera is thrilled to announce that our aviation sustainability planning expert, John Antonoglu, PE, LEED AP BD+C, CFM, ENV SP has been named as a Crain’s Chicago Business 2023 Notable Leader in Sustainability. John was one of several individuals honored for their efforts and successes of working toward a greener future.

John has been passionate about sustainability in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry for more than 25 years. As our leading sustainability expert primarily focused on the aviation market, John currently oversees the stormwater management analysis, design, and inspection for aviation projects. His most recent work includes assisting with civil design and oversight of the sustainability aspects for the $8.6B O’Hare 21 Program, the largest terminal expansion at the airport in decades. The project’s sustainability goals followed the Sustainable Airport Manual (SAM), a guide and rating system developed with John as a key author in 2003. The SAM has also been used as a template for airports across the Country.

John studied chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before earning his master’s in environmental engineering from the same institution. He spent the early part of his career focused on environmental engineering with an emphasis on water treatment and hazardous waste remediation. Throughout his career, he has served on both a technical and management level for major clients that include airports, municipal utilities, and private commercial, institutional, and residential developments. He’s worked for both small and very large firms before settling in at Primera more than 15 years ago. In that time, he’s taken his passion for both sustainability and aviation projects and built an aviation group dedicated to providing our clients with exceptional expertise with a focus on industry-leading customer service.
