Senior Civil Technical Lead

• You are a seasoned civil engineering professional with deep expertise in aviation projects and the ability to lead both technically and collaboratively within the AEC environment. You have a P.E. license and at least 10+ years of experience. You bring a strong understanding of engineering principles and best practices and apply them effectively across complex aviation project assignments in support of the firm’s aviation practice.
• You thrive in a leadership role, providing technical and managerial direction to multidisciplinary project teams. Whether overseeing an entire project or leading a critical portion of work, you ensure alignment with project goals, schedules, and quality expectations.
• You are accountable for maintaining rigorous quality control and quality assurance standards, guiding project teams to consistently deliver accurate, compliant, and high-quality work. You lead by example, support team development, and contribute to the overall success and reputation of the aviation practice.
• We are ideally seeking candidates based in the Chicagoland region. However, applicants with a strong aviation background and a licensed P.E. may be considered even if they reside outside of Illinois.

• Responsible for designing and reviewing specific project components, including airport and airfield design, grading, drainage, pavement, roadway design, stormwater management and detention, and utilities, using standard engineering practices and techniques.

• Oversees and reviews work performed by others in the preparation of project deliverables, including reports, contract plans, specifications, supporting documents, and permit applications.

• Develops project scopes, budgets, and schedules.

• Manages staff and subconsultants assigned to projects.

• Monitors team members’ adherence to Primera procedures and policies.

• Mentors and trains project staff members.

• Performs project-specific assignments as required.

• Manages client relationships by meeting with clients, regulators, and agencies to develop strong professional partnerships. Collaborates with the Department/Group Manager to market Primera’s services to existing and potential clients.

• Assists in the development of new business through client meetings and participation in promotional activities.

• Prepares project invoices and progress reports in accordance with client requirements.

• Develops marketing materials and proposals, including RFPs, RFQs, and SOQs.
