Jill Deichmann leads Primera’s architecture team with a combined passion for great design and helping others. “Whether it’s offering creative solutions to clients or using my architectural expertise to give back to the community, I’m grateful for the opportunity to do what I love each day,” she explains. “My interest in design dates all the way back to an all-boys industrial arts class I took in middle school,” she recalls. Jill’s expertise is the result of nearly 20 years of experience with new construction and renovation projects in the healthcare, institutional, commercial, higher education and parks and recreation markets. Working within a full-service engineering firm has allowed her to broaden her architectural design, project management and construction administration skillset to also include engineering-focused services like code consulting, life safety analysis, and building envelope commissioning.
Jill earned her bachelor’s degree in architectural studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago before joining two high-end residential design firms. Armed with real-world experience, she later enrolled in a graduate program at Washington University in St. Louis where her final project won her Design Thesis of the Year. After earning her Masters of Arts in Architecture, Jill joined Primera in 2002 as a drafter and quickly advanced within the firm to the group lead that she is today. Under Jill’s leadership, she and her team have earned a reputation for delivering expert architecture, code consulting, permitting and sustainability services with an emphasis on industry-leading client service.
Outside the office, Jill utilizes her craft to give back to the community by volunteering more than 200 hours of time per year to the Metro Chicago Affiliate of Rebuilding Together, an organization she joined over 20 years ago. In addition to her volunteer efforts, she enjoys scrapbooking, genealogy research, kayaking, cooking, softball, and road tripping with her husband – having visited 27 states in just nine years.
