Primera is proud to announce that the firm has recently been prequalified by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to provide services for movable bridges and advanced typical structures. The highly-specialized Structures – Movable prequalification allows Primera to pursue projects as both a prime and subconsultant in this category. It includes design for bascule, swing or lift type bridges. The Structures – Highway: Advanced Typical prequal covers “basic curved or flared bridges requiring advanced analysis and non-standard support.” The new categories are added to our existing Structures prequalifications for Railroad, Highway: Typical, and Highway: Simple.
Our team of structural engineers can help with cost, planning, design and preparation of plans for nearly all types of bridges and structures. Primera’s structural team is led by group manager Zaida Morillo, PE, SE. She is a project manager and senior structural engineer skilled at performing structural analysis and design for new construction, rehabilitation, and widening of concrete and steel fixed, movable, and railroad bridge structures.
Submitting firms for the highly-specialized Structures – Movable prequalification must meet a long list of requirements and approval is based on both the firm’s experience and the engineers’ pertinent experience. Only a small percentage of consultants have the prequalification since it involves more complex structures.
If you are interested in a teaming opportunity, please contact Zaida Morillo at zmorillo@primeraeng.com.
