Primera Participates in National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day

National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is an unofficial holiday that takes place on the fourth Thursday in April each year. This special day is intended to give young children some insight into what a parent does during the work day and also provides them with an opportunity to learn about future potential careers. As part of our continual mission to make a bigger impact in our communities, Primera celebrated the day with over 20 kids in our Chicago and Lisle offices.

The kids, ranging in age from 7 – 14, started the day by learning about the work that Primera does and what it means to be an engineer and architect. They then worked on several hands-on STEM activities meant to inspire experimenting, building, and problem-solving. The kids even got to go on a scavenger hunt where they were encouraged to talk to our employees to find answers to questions about their specific line of work. They ended their day joining the rest of the office staff for a fun ice cream social and games.

Overall, Take your Child to Work Day was a total success at Primera. Not only did the kids learn about careers in STEM and other fields, but they also got to experience our culture and understand that there is always room for fun at work. Our culture is built upon the foundation of making connections, whether it’s with our clients, our communities or with our employees and their families. As our IT Manager Omar Torres states, “I am proud to work for an organization that values our lives outside of the office, and also makes investments in our children. My daughter had a blast learning about what I do at work all day and cannot wait to come back next year!”
