Primera provided full design services for the Governors State University Alumni Pathway Lighting project, upgrading more than one mile of campus pathways with solar-powered LED lighting and emergency call stations. The project enhances pedestrian safety and visibility while supporting the university’s commitment to 100% renewable energy.
Developed to address campus safety with an energy-efficient, low-maintenance solution, the design balances performance, aesthetics, and cost-effectiveness while leveraging available funding to reduce overall costs.
The system includes pole-mounted photovoltaic panels with onsite battery storage capable of operating up to three days without recharging. Intelligent controls dim lighting during off-peak hours and increase illumination with motion, while night sky-friendly fixtures minimize glare and environmental impact.
Primera’s services included feasibility and cost analyses, design and construction documents, and construction administration. The system is expected to save more than $25,000 in energy costs over its lifespan, delivering long-term value and an improved campus experience.
