Primera provided construction management services for the Chicago Department of Transportation’s INVEST South/West Austin Corridor Improvements, supporting the reconstruction of Chicago Avenue from Austin Boulevard to Central Avenue in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood. The project contributed to the City’s broader investment in community infrastructure, improving safety, accessibility, and the overall streetscape experience.
Construction included pavement removal and resurfacing, new sidewalks, curb and gutter replacements, bump-outs, and ADA-compliant ramp upgrades. The team also supported drainage improvements and upgrades to traffic signals and lighting. Working closely with CDOT and ComEd, Primera coordinated lighting enhancements, including new pole foundations, updated poles, and outage sensing nodes, along with streetscape features such as landscaping, neighborhood identifiers, and custom seating.
Primera administered the project on behalf of CDOT, managing documentation and coordination to support consistent delivery. With a strong understanding of CDOT standards, the team oversaw material testing, paving documentation, and pavement colorization for crosswalks and bike lanes. Through close collaboration and a focus on quality, Primera helped deliver a safer, more accessible corridor that supports the surrounding community and local businesses.
