The Sankofa Wellness Village (SWV) program is a transformative initiative, along Chicago’s Madison-Pulaski commercial corridor, aimed at creating safe, community-informed, locally-owned, and culturally-empowering services. The ambitious program includes health, recreation, and wealth-building programs, a residential leadership and workforce development program, an arts center, a business incubator and accelerator, and an initiative to bring new grocers and access to healthy food to West Garfield Park.
Primera played a crucial role in the development of the Sankofa Village Wellness Center by providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and sustainability support services. Efforts included high-level energy modeling to evaluate different design approaches for the building envelope and energy systems. This modeling aimed to compare energy costs for various sustainable design features, ensuring the center’s efficiency and sustainability.
