This project was part of the first phase of a large public improvement project from the Lake County Department of Transportation. It consisted of lowering the intersection of Rollins Road and Route 83 by 30 feet to create an underpass under the existing railroad tracks. The area impacted by the construction is approximately one-half of a square mile and encompasses a transmission right-of-way and a substation exit.
This first phase involved relocating a 138kV switching structure in conflict with the proposed grading for the underpass, which in turn caused a conflict with the existing 34kV underbuild on the transmission towers. Primera’s scope of work was to take the 34kV line off of the transmission tower and reroute it around the relocated switching structure.
