Primera is proud to announce that Aviation Engineer, Kris Salvatera, a longtime advocate for civil engineering excellence and community engagement, has been named President-Elect of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Illinois Section. Kris was sworn in and officially installed as President-Elect during the Illinois Section ASCE Annual Awards Dinner on October 30th. As President-Elect, Kris will spend the coming year collaborating with ASCE leadership and members to advance the organization’s mission, culminating in a transition to President in October 2026, where Kris will lead the Illinois Section in shaping the future of civil engineering across the region.
With over 16 years of active involvement in ASCE, Kris brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the role. His ASCE Illinois Section leadership journey has included serving as the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Student Conference Chair, Younger Member Group University Affairs Chair, Student Outreach Chair, Transportation & Development Institute’s (T&DI) Programs Committee Member and Secretary, Illinois Section Director from 2018 to 2020, and most recently, as the outgoing Illinois Section Treasurer. Each role has deepened the organization’s commitment to advancing the profession and mentoring the next generation of engineers.
