Chad Dillavou is one of Primera’s leading civil engineers and manager of Primera’s Cedar Rapids, Iowa office. With a passion for anything traffic and safety-related, Chad sees his role as a transportation engineer as an opportunity to not only improve operations but to also protect the lives of pedestrians. According to him, “Safety is the whole reason the transportation engineering industry exists, and without well-designed transportation systems we would never be able to travel quickly, efficiently and safely.” Chad’s expertise is the result of over 10 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction of a wide range of transportation projects. He has substantial experience performing preliminary engineering studies, geometric design, and is well versed in traffic studies, and public involvement.
Chad earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Prior to joining Primera, Chad worked to master the preliminary, design, and construction inspection engineering portions of the transportation industry. Despite being overwhelmed at times with the nuances and specific details of each new project or location, Chad sees these experiences as opportunities to grow into a stronger engineer and only fueled his desire to provide designs that exceed his client’s needs.
As a bicycle enthusiast, Chad enjoys riding through metro areas and towns to see and appreciate the funding and efforts that local agencies are putting into bicycle and pedestrian safety. If not on his bike, you can catch Chad enjoying walks with his family, listening to music, or reading fiction and sci-fi books whenever possible.
