Kris Salvatera, PE, Begins Term as ASCE Illinois Section President

Primera is proud to announce that Aviation Engineer Kris Salvatera, a longtime advocate for civil engineering excellence and community engagement, has officially been inducted as President of the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (IS-ASCE). Kris was sworn in and installed as President during their Annual Awards Dinner on October 1st, marking the start of his term leading one of Illinois’ premier professional engineering organizations.

Throughout his career, Kris has viewed professional involvement as an opportunity to strengthen both the engineering community and the individuals within it. His long-standing engagement with IS-ASCE has allowed him to connect students, young professionals, and experienced industry leaders while helping advance programs that support education, mentorship, and technical excellence. Those experiences have given him a well-rounded perspective on the needs of the profession and the importance of building a strong and engaged membership.

As he begins his presidency, Kris is focused on fostering meaningful connections across the Illinois engineering community and creating opportunities for members to learn, collaborate, and lead. He will work alongside fellow board members and volunteers to support the organization’s initiatives, encourage professional development, and continue promoting the value civil engineers bring to the communities they serve.

“Kris’s leadership reflects the same relationship-driven approach we value at Primera,” said Stacie Dovalovsky, Sr. Vice President and Transportation Division Manager. “His dedication to supporting others, sharing knowledge, and investing in the future of the profession makes him an excellent representative of both ASCE and our firm.”

Primera Projects Honored with Civil Engineering Awards

Primera was also recognized at the IS-ASCE Annual Awards Dinner as a member of the teams behind two award-winning projects: the N. Milwaukee Ave – Logan to Belmont project and the South Conveyance Storm Sewer project, both of which received Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Awards. These honors reflect the collaboration, innovation, and technical expertise that made these transformative transportation and aviation infrastructure improvements possible, creating lasting benefits for communities across the Chicago region.
