Primera was honored to sponsor and support our own Guy Niedorkorn’s I Gotta Guy Sausage Festival again this year. The 14th annual fundraising event topped last year and raised $210,000 to benefit the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research (FPWR) and their efforts to fund Schaaf-Yang Syndrome (SYS) research. The event was once again hosted at Galleria Marchetti, was attended virtually by people from all over the world, and has fundraised for the FPWR and SAS since 2017.
This fundraiser is special for us as Guy’s granddaughter Emma was born with SYS seven years ago. SYS is caused by a disruption of the MAGEL2 gene on chromosome 15. Currently, there are few treatments and no cure for SYS. It shares many clinical features with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) and the ultimate goal of the FPWR is to develop new therapies to improve the lives of individuals with both SYS and PWS. In light of the challenges Emma faces on a daily basis, we’re optimistic about her future because of the fundraising work Guy and his family are doing. To date, the I Gotta Guy Sausage Festival has raised more than $1.5 million.
Guy joined Primera as Vice President and Director of Business Development for our Utilities division in 2018. Congrats, Guy on another successful fundraising event!
