Primera is thrilled to announce the promotion of Matt Villanueva, PE, to Sr. Roadway Group Manager. Over his 10 years at Primera, Matt has demonstrated exceptional technical skills while building and maintaining meaningful relationships with both his clients and his team. In his expanded role, Matt will continue to showcase his outstanding leadership abilities as he oversees the roadway group, tackling tough infrastructure challenges with confidence and expertise.
Matt specializes in Maintenance-of-Traffic (MOT) and the development of contract plans and documents, including highway geometrics, traffic control and staging plans, signing, traffic analyses, special provisions, quantities and cost estimates, and preparation of public meeting exhibits. In addition to managing complex roadway projects, Matt leads Primera’s Roadway Group, consisting of 14 eager and ambitious employees. His leadership skills are exemplified through his people-focused motivation and emphasis on relationships.

Matt studied Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He worked for several years as a roadway design engineer before joining Primera’s Transportation division where he has quickly moved up the ranks as one of the firm’s strongest roadway designers. In his free time, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and children and working on his personal photography business.
