Our Utilities division is a talented team of experts working together to provide solutions that are vital to energizing our future. We provide full-service electrical, civil, and structural engineering services to support electric and gas utilities nationwide. We’re also fortunate to support wind farms and renewables; transmissions systems; and university and industrial facilities.
Who You Are
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, and a minimum of 10 years of experience with at least 4 years of relevant experience in a supervisory capacity or responsible-in-charge. A License professional engineer.
- Advanced knowledge of utility industry standards and practices to include NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Advanced knowledge of Substation design practices related to physical and/or protection and control design development and relevant supporting calculations.
- Experienced with key considerations for substation design including physical layouts and details, one lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Advanced knowledge of industry standard practices and loss prevention practices.
- Skilled in MS Office and MS Project.
- Advanced Supervision/mentoring/team skills.
- Advanced presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
What You'll Do
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages department resources and serves as a mentor to staff.
- Leads substation design on large/complex projects.
- Ability to prioritize work and priorities for a team.
- Reviews/supervises calculations, drawings, specifications.
- Performs condition assessments and feasibility studies.
- Attends client meetings.
- Manages substation group utilization and effective multiplier.
- Performs Quality Reviews.
- Assists in proposal preparation and marketing efforts.
- Coordinates and conducts professional training and development of staff.
- Evaluates work performance of staff.
- Conducts department meetings on a regular basis.
- Monitors department’s adherence to Primera’s procedures and policies.
- Assists the Department Manager in recruitment of new employees, and in business development efforts.
