Laura Wand is Primera’s leading support services expert with a meticulous nature when it comes to managing Utilities projects. As group manager, Laura ensures that we consistently deliver quality project solutions and provide a first-class customer experience for our clients. Her expertise is the result of over 20 years of experience in the power utility business where she has primarily focused on AutoCAD training, document control services and permitting. Her dedication to efficient and effective workflows for our Utilities clients is second to none and she is a vital component to the mentorship and development of Primera’s large group of drafters and permitting analysts.
Laura studied Mechanical/Electrical Computer Aided Design at Morrison Institute of Technology and began her career at Sargent & Lundy. While there, she was part of the team of drafters on hand for CAD work at ComEd’s LaSalle Nuclear Station. She later assisted in the development of their first Document Management System for electronic CAD drawings, where she was highly successful. After being trained as an Electrical Physical Designer, Laura went to Patrick Engineering and worked out of General Electric’s office as the single point of contact between them and a large utility company on the West Coast. Thankfully, an employee she knew from General Electric was hired at Primera and encouraged Laura to come in for an interview… and the rest is history.
Aside from her passionate work in drafting and document control, Laura is an avid philanthropist. Most often, you can find her volunteering with the North Aurora Mother’s Club or serving on the Executive Board of her children’s middle school Parent/Teacher Organization. She is a key member of Primera’s S.E.R.V.I.C.E. committee and a recipient of the 2015 Volunteer Service Award. When she is not volunteering, her time is spent visiting family, playing with her dogs, and spending quality time with her husband and kids. She also enjoys cooking, baking, reading, and swimming.
