Primera is leading a Phase I study to address longstanding community concerns related to speeding, pedestrian safety, and multimodal access along Washington Boulevard, a key east–west corridor in River Forest, Illinois. The study explores improvements such as curb extensions, raised intersections, enhanced crosswalks, upgraded traffic controls, and dedicated bicycle facilities. These strategies respond to documented safety and visibility challenges, recurring resident feedback, and opportunities created by underutilized on‑street parking.
As part of the effort, Primera developed a comprehensive Stakeholder Involvement Plan and coordinated closely with Village departments, community groups, and local organizations. Public meetings provided residents with opportunities to review corridor concepts, discuss tradeoffs related to parking and safety, and directly inform the project’s Purpose and Need, ensuring that community priorities are reflected in the study’s recommendations.
