Boardwalks and Swale Crossings at Illinois Beach State Park

Illinois Beach State Park (IBSP) is a 4,160-acre park with six and a half miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, owned and operated by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). The park is a unique natural resource, containing the only remaining Lake Michigan beach ridge shoreline in the state.

Primera performed topographic surveying services for seven individual project sites, and prepared design plans and specifications for new boardwalks and raised trail structures. The plans included extensive construction requirements and restrictions to protect the fragile ecosystem during the project.  Primera also assisted the Illinois Capital Development Board during project bidding and provided construction management services. The end product enhances public access, enables maintenance and security vehicles to access all areas of the park, and protects the park’s natural resources.
