
Mark Ellis leads Primera’s substation team with a laser focus on reliability and delivering high-quality utility engineering services. As Mark explains, “Working with substations allows us to support utility clients in evolving and improving their transmission and distribution systems to provide reliable delivery of power to our communities every day. Ensuring reliability is not just about technology; it’s about making a tangible difference in people’s lives.” Throughout his long-standing career, Mark has always been passionate about excellence in work and process optimization, “Through substations, we get to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the industry, constantly innovating to meet the needs of our clients and communities,” he adds. His more than 15 years of experience spans real-time operations and substation engineering in the transmission space, with a focus on protection and control.
Before joining Primera, Mark excelled in transmission protection and control engineering, transmission operations training, compliance programs, and facility engineering within the automotive industry. His technical background brings a fact-focused approach to Primera’s utilities division, enhancing precision and reliability. Mark attended Oklahoma State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Ohio University.
When he’s not working, Mark stays active through weightlifting and playing racquetball. He enjoys tinkering with various projects and spending quality time with his family, including his wife, their two kids, and their dogs. Mark is actively involved in his community, serving as an adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America and volunteering at the Dublin Food Bank.
