Sarah Sager is a people‑first project delivery leader who brings a rare blend of technical expertise, thoughtful program oversight, and a deep commitment to building strong, empathetic teams. Guided by her core belief that “when we lead with empathy and remember that everyone is human, our work, and our relationships, are stronger,” Sarah leads with intention, always striving to create the space where her team can grow, thrive, and succeed. She brings over a decade of experience spanning engineering, project management, and program leadership in the utilities industry.
Sarah holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in geological engineering and geoscience & geophysics. She began her career in the oil and gas industry as an exploration geologist and geosteering engineer, where she analyzed geophysical data and led teams to identify optimal drilling opportunities. She later transitioned fully into project management where she worked for another engineering firm managing multiple utilities programs. Her deep knowledge of utilities operations ultimately led her to Primera, where she helps guide our program involvement and lends her expertise to strategic growth across the Utilities division.
When not busy managing projects, Sarah is energized by time spent on the volleyball court. She’s an avid recreational indoor and beach volleyball player, often found at North Avenue Beach, taking in one of Chicago’s best views. She enjoys cheering on the Green Bay Packers, watching professional and collegiate volleyball, exploring Chicago’s endless mix of restaurants and bars, and hiking with her two golden retrievers. Sarah is also deeply committed to empowering others in her community. She serves as the Director of Mentorship for the Women’s Energy Network Chicago, supporting the professional development of women in the energy industry, and volunteers annually at Chicago Pride Fest to advocate for LGBTQ+ inclusion and rights.
