This project involved the complete reconstruction of two existing parking lots and adjacent roadway next to the City of East Chicago Marina. The scope of the project included the following elements: maintenance of traffic (MOT), clearing, tree and debris removal, adjustment of monitoring wells, utility relocations, light pole removal and replacements, removal and replacement of concrete curb and gutter and sidewalk, catch basin replacement, storm sewer reconstruction, aggregate base placement, asphalt milling and paving, common excavation, guardrail removal and replacement, topsoil, sodding, tree planting, ornamental fence and gate installation, pavement markings and waterproof barrier installation due to the environmental sensitivity of the project site.
Due to the proximity of both the City Marina and the ArcelorMittal steel mill, project MOT was a daily priority. The Primera team worked closely with the marina and steel mill staff to accommodate large traffic influxes during the project.
