North Park University is a 3,200-student private institution located on the north side of Chicago. This project consisted of a renovation to the 7,500-square-foot dining hall and adjacent 2,000 square foot serving area located on the second floor of the Magnuson Campus Center building. Throughout the facility, the ceilings were dropped, new flooring was installed, and the windows were replaced. New lighting also allowed for brightening and dimming in response to the external environment. Together, these upgrades contribute to a more energy-efficient room that is both welcoming and encourages a wide variety of community interactions.
Primera provided all the MEP and lighting design for the space. The renovation created permanent locations for new equipment, the walls were thermally enhanced and a new sound and AV system were provided. Primera also designed the lighting for the interior spaces, the lighting control systems and the emergency lighting system.
