Primera performed structural analysis and design of concrete roof structures, along with the development of construction documents for the replacement of network centers both in and outside of Chicago’s Central Business District. These network centers (electrical vaults) are concrete structures housing electrical equipment located in the public way and are usually 12 feet deep by 14 feet wide by 30 feet long.
Primera performed the site investigation to determine the exact limits of removal. Additionally, Primera identified existing conduit routings and bus arrangements that interfered with roof replacement, and replaced or relocated these routings and bus supports respectively. Primera designed the replacement vault roof, and identified the design loads and forces to be applied. Services included review of Chicago Building Code and the applicability of HS20 truck loading, and development of construction drawings and record as-built drawings.
