Last week, Primera joined organizations and agencies across the country in recognizing National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW), an annual reminder of the importance of safety in and around construction and maintenance zones. The week shines a light on the people behind the work — engineers, contractors, inspectors, and crews — who help keep our infrastructure moving while facing real risks every day.
Keeping Safety Front and Center
Celebrating National Work Zone Awareness Week (April 20 – 24, 2026) at Primera
Go Orange Day
As part of the week’s activities, members of our transportation teams participated in Go Orange Day, wearing orange to show our support for work zone safety and to stand in solidarity with those who work on or travel through construction zones. Even our Executive Management Team (EMT) joined in on the fun! It was a simple but meaningful way to reinforce a good message: Think safe. Be safe. Scroll through the images on the right to see some of our team members out in the field.
We also paused for a moment of silence on social media to remember and honor the individuals who have lost their lives in work zones. This moment served as a powerful reminder that behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a community forever changed. Taking time to reflect underscores why awareness, accountability, and safe behaviors matter on every project, every day.
Safety at Primera
At Primera, safety is not just a requirement, it’s an important value that guides how we plan, design, and deliver our work. Whether we’re supporting transportation projects, utilities, or buildings, we prioritize thoughtful design, clear communication, and collaboration with our partners to help reduce risk and protect everyone involved. Our commitment to safety extends beyond our project teams to the communities we serve, because creating safer environments is fundamental to building trust and lasting relationships.
NWZAW is an opportunity to reaffirm that commitment and to remind ourselves that safety is a shared responsibility. We’re proud to stand with our industry colleagues, clients, and communities in keeping safety top of mind, not just during this designated week but throughout the entire year.
