Ed Johnson brings a people‑first leadership style shaped by nearly three decades in the utility industry. “Strong leaders invest in others by preparing them for bigger opportunities,” he says, a philosophy inspired by the mentors who supported his own career. Known for his calm, disciplined approach and commitment to teamwork, Ed brings this perspective to his role in our Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania office, where he is dedicated to helping both clients and colleagues succeed.
A licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, Ed holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Bucknell University and a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from Drexel University. He began his career with an electric utility, spending nearly 30 years in engineering, operations, reliability, and standards. During that time, he led operations teams, supervised engineering and design groups, directed reliability programs, and advanced construction specifications and standards, all while contributing to safety, customer satisfaction, and storm restoration efforts. He later expanded his experience as a project manager for an electrical contractor, overseeing multimillion‑dollar transmission and distribution projects across the Northeast. Today, he leads Primera’s Mid-Atlantic distribution engineering team, supporting engineers and designers, managing workload planning, and ensuring high standards for safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
Outside the office, Ed stays active and connected to his community. A former competitive swimmer, he now serves as a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Swim & Dive official and enjoys spending time outdoors. He and his wife also love to travel and are steadily working toward visiting all 50 states. Giving back is important to him as well; he has supported youth robotics and leadership programs, speaks to students about engineering and STEM careers, and remains active in his church community.
