Primera’s consulting team was tasked with developing and implementing a smart LED streetlight program for a large Midwest utility. The scope included: business transformation and data collection and management.
The business transformation portion involved facilitation in strategic planning discussions around the vision for the future state, benefits and business case to justify process changes and system integration recommendations; facilitating stakeholder discussions to document current, transition and future state processes; conducting stakeholder analysis to understand identify gaps and opportunities; developing communication plans for impacted departments to identify their training needs and capacity for change; and hosting in-person discussions with departments to reinforce the change.
The data collection and management project included: maintaining and overseeing data mapping and data integrity for 500,000+ streetlights; analyzing and cleaning existing databases of Utility service territory population of streetlights; identifying data issues and implementing initiatives to improve data quality, including interdepartmental coordination for adopting data standards; designing processes for joining municipality data to Utility data; developing system for QA/QC of GIS survey data, which included location and boundary analysis and ownership review; creation of collaboration site for field data exceptions reporting and resolution, data package workflows, and project status hub; building dashboards and interactive maps for tracking project progress; developing mobile app for tracking project installations and progress; and lastly implementing process improvements for data collection, management, billing, and system integration.
