With over 45 years of experience in the public and private sectors, John Plezbert is well-poised to lead Primera’s business development efforts for our Buildings and Transportation divisions. His infectious personality, coupled with his wide-ranging knowledge, helps connect the dots between Primera and its clients for mutual growth and trust. According to John, “I love getting people excited about their role in the AEC world. As someone who has been on multiple sides of the spectrum, I understand the needs of both client and company, and can identify opportunity areas for a successful partnership.” As Vice President, Director of Business Development, John is a key member of our leadership team and contributes to Primera’s overall strategic plan.
Throughout his career, John has amassed a critical understanding of buildings, transportation, and utility entities. He advanced through six City of Chicago departments that culminated in successive appointments as Managing Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Aviation, First Deputy Commissioner of the Department of General Services and First Deputy Executive Director at the Public Building Commission. He left the public sector nearly a decade ago for the opportunity to apply his knowledge and leadership to help AEC organizations build meaningful relationships and expand their businesses. Since then, he’s developed longstanding relationships with major design and construction firms across the country and has earned a reputation of providing value-added solutions.
When not focusing on helping clients, John is busy helping wherever else he can outside of the office. He has served as past President and 25-year Board of Directors member of the Mount Carmel High School Alumni Association, where he also chaired their design and construction committee for their new convocation center. He’s also passionate about children’s causes and animal rights and enjoys spending time with his wife and two grandchildren.
