As the man in charge of Primera’s technology services and platforms, Omar strives to achieve maximum collaboration and security across the firm’s assets. As he states, “I am passionate about creating a platform of services that allows people to work and collaborate effectively while protecting the company and important client information.” Omar gets to practice this daily as he ensures that Primera’s technology infrastructure always maintains its effectiveness and efficiency.

Ever since Omar was five years old, he’s always loved technology. His love for Atari and video games in general is what led him to study programming and Computer Science at the University of Puerto Rico in Bayamon. From there, he went on to teach computer education to school teachers and worked supporting the systems in charge of child abuse-related calls to 911. Both roles showed him how critical technology is to people’s everyday lives. Omar has also worked in the insurance and tourism industries before landing his role at Primera in 2007. A life-long learner, Omar is continuously reading up on the latest networking and operating systems. Recently, he has helped Primera leverage cloud services, making us a nimbler and more flexible team.

When not in front of a computer screen, Omar spends his time behind a camera or a book. If he’s not outdoors practicing his love of photography with his family, then he’s inside catching up on any sci-fi or horror novels he can get his hands on. Omar is also a strong advocate for finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease and regularly volunteers with the non-profit organization, Folding@home.
