Oscar Rivera is Primera’s in-house Staff Attorney. As a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Oscar takes great pride in providing counsel to Primera’s executive management team as it pertains to service agreements, commercial leases, and employment contracts. “Primera values teamwork and building strong relationships,” he explains. “I have the unique position of working across all divisions within the company, giving me a deeper understanding of the firm and our industry, and allowing me to better provide my knowledge and expertise to all areas.” Oscar’s work includes drafting and reviewing contracts and agreements from various disciplines, including corporate management, accounting and human resources. He is also a member of the Legal Counsel Forum and Risk Management Committee of the American Council of Engineering Companies.

Oscar studied Economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he received his bachelor’s degree. While working as a Property Accountant and Lease Abstractor at Urban Retail Properties, LLC, he continued his education at Chicago-Kent College of Law, earning his Juris Doctor degree. Just a year later, he earned his MBA from the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Stuart School of Business. He then spent several years as a Document Review Attorney for various firms where he reviewed and coded complex documents for relevancy, privilege, and confidentiality issues on assignments including, employment discrimination, corporate practices, insurance claims, and securities fraud. Oscar’s background with corporate practices and insurance claims, alongside his undergraduate and graduate degrees in business make him a natural fit at Primera given his unique perspective in all aspects of corporate management.

When he’s not leading Primera’s Legal department, Oscar enjoys being a family man and watching his two young children grow up. He also loves fantasy football and playing video games in his spare time.
